Yes, even with automatic gear selection in shift mode "D", you can request a gear change at any time using the gearshift lever – without leaving "D" mode. The system automatically switches back to automatic gear selection when a harmonious transition is possible. It is not necessary to press the ASA button to switch between manual and automatic shift mode.
