- Switch off the CE 04 so that it is no longer operational.
- Open the charging compartment and remove the charging socket cover.
- Remove the protective cap from the charging plug.
- Before charging for the first time at your own or another domestic socket outlet, you should determine the permissible charge current strength, e.g. by a qualified electrician. Unless you know the charge current strength, you should set the charge current limit to the lowest level.
- If a different charge current is available from the domestic socket outlet / charging station, charge with the lower charge current.
- If necessary, set the charge current limit in the menu "Settings > Vehicle settings > Charging settings > Charge current limit".
- Connect the charging cable to the corresponding charging socket on the vehicle. Make sure it is secure and tight.
- Connect the other end of the charging cable to the current source, either a domestic socket outlet, a Wallbox or a public charging station. If the current source is already active, the charging process will start.
- Check on the charger whether the process is running (LED on the standard charging cable), on the TFT display (as long as the vehicle is still on), or if necessary on the charging station itself.
- Depending on the charging station, it may also be necessary to start the charging process separately at the charging station. Follow the instructions on the charging station.
To finish the charging process, be sure to follow the sequence below:
- Finish the charging process at the charging station.
- Switch on the CE 04 so that it is operational.
- The charging cable is then unlocked.
- Disconnect the charging cable from the charging socket.
- Replace the charging socket cover and the protective cap on the charging plug.
Please note: The procedure may vary from country to country. If you are not sure how this works in your country, refer to the chapter "BMW EPOWER” in the rider's manual.
Note: In principle, the charging process can be stopped at any time and continued at a later time. If the power should be interrupted for a short time during the charging process, the charging process will continue automatically. If the interruption lasts longer than 2 minutes, the charging process must be restarted manually.
