Why are brake ducts used on the M 1000 RR (2023 model year)?

A central point in the optimisation of the entire aerodynamics is the area of the front wheel. Here, for the first time in the history of BMW Motorrad, brake cooling air ducts made of visible carbon – so-called brake ducts – are used. They are integrated into the new, optimised front mudguard, resulting in improved airflow around the fork legs and brake callipers. They reduce the temperature of the M brake by up to 10° Celsius during use on the racetrack and help it to achieve even higher performance and a more constant resistance point.
