The automatic gearshift mechanism is mainly activated by the engine speed and the degree of acceleration/deceleration. The automated shift assistant shifts down in good time, even when decelerating hard.
In combination with the adaptive cruise control (Active Cruise Control "ACC"), the advantage of the combined functions of cruise control and the automatic gearshift mechanism becomes apparent. In automated "D" mode, the automatic shift system ensures that the right gear is always engaged or disengaged based on the ACC driving speed. This also improves the effectiveness of other assistance systems, such as brake-induced functions like Dynamic Cruise Control (DCC), front-collision warning (FCW) and Dynamic Brake Control (DBC), as the automated shifting actions increase stability when braking.
