What has been further developed on the shift assistant Pro of the S 1000 RR (from model year 2023)?

As before, the shift assistant Pro enables upshifts without clutch control, offering perfect acceleration with virtually no interruption in tensile force. Furthermore, downshifting without clutch control is also possible. A new feature is that downshifting is now also possible with the throttle in the open position. This enables very fast gearshifts and clutch control is basically reduced to starting and stopping.

What's in it for me?
The gearshift is generally more precise and cleaner. Less intervention in the powertrain is necessary – which ultimately leads to more performance, comfort, stability and safety.

How was this realised?
The gearshift request is now implemented via a torque model and thus enables gearshifts in all operating ranges. With the torque model, it is also possible to downshift with the throttle twist grip open and the throttle valve or the torque provided is optimally adapted to the gear and rotational speed. This means that there is no unwanted acceleration. At the same time, the reaction to undesired claw hits (= incorrect, friction-locked connection of the transmission gears) was optimised and the load change damping after gear changes was improved. The gear is securely engaged and does not jump out.

Note: Only on the racetrack can the conventional shift pattern (first gear down) still be changed in a few simple steps (first gear up).
