The RR uses a revised four-cylinder in-line engine based on the previous RR power train. Peak power is now 154 kW (210 hp) at 13,750 rpm (US vehicles have 205 hp), 2 kW (3 hp). The maximum torque of 113 Nm is reached at 11,000 rpm.
For increased rear wheel tensile force in all gears, a shorter secondary transmission ratio is also provided through the use of a chain sprocket with 46 teeth instead of 45 (not for China, Taiwan and Brazil).
The intake ports have been redesigned with the aim of achieving noticeably increased peak power as well as optimum performance in the rotational speed range relevant for supersport road use as well as racetrack use. They have the advanced port geometry also used on the M RR, but have a cast surface (M 1000 RR: milled).
